Being Thankful Year-Round
For years, the Thanksgiving holiday has been one of my all-time favorites.
I can’t pinpoint the main reason because there are many.
For me, it’s the combination of good family, good food, healthy fellowship, and a few football games to boot.
Thanksgiving is a great holiday for sure.
As the years continue to forge ahead, the thanksgiving date is beginning to take on a new set of reasons to savor it.
Being thankful is slowly (I feel) becoming a lost art in our hustle-bustle, gotta-have-it-now society.
We need to take time to remember all we’ve been blessed with; not just on one single day of the year, but all year round.
Of all the major holidays, I like Thanksgiving the best. The reasons I feel this way are many. But topping my list is simply what Thanksgiving represents: Giving thanks.
In today’s often busied and somewhat-entitlement-seeking mentality, the basic idea of taking a day to be thankful for all we have is refreshing.
To be honest, I feel every day should be Thanksgiving, but that’s another story.
This year, my family is driving across state to visit my parents and my brothers and their families.
As a funny jest, we’re bringing an adult pilgrim costume I’m going to wear during dinner just for the heck of it.
I’m sure the memories and laughs will be remembered for awhile.
