Big Stack before the Flop
The problem with the quick-and-dirty method of big stack domination is that more often than not, you’re feeding your online poker chips out to the short stacks rather than knocking them out. Many of your shorter-stacked online poker opponents will be more than happy to go all in against you, because they don’t have anything to lose. Whether or not you’ve got the best hand, you’re still giving your opponents an opportunity to win when you let them go to the end of the hand. You have a lot more to lose, so don’t act like you do. There’s no need to push your poker opponents all-in, just push them out of hands before they draw a winner. Of course, if you smell weakness, then go for the jugular, but if you aren’t positive that you’ve got a winner, try to buy the pot. If you can buy the blinds or scare your opponents out of hands, then you remove all doubt of how good your hand is. When you’ve got the intimidation factor that comes with being the big stack, there’s no need to allow your opponents to try and draw a winner. When you’re the big stack, it pays better to win the hand before the flop, because your opponents can’t win the hands that they fold.
